Putting Together The Best Opt In Page To Grow Your Opt List

By Neil Russell

If you have an online business without an opt in page you are probably missing out on a lot of cash. To build an opt list, and increase your business, you should have a quick and easy way for people to leave their details. This is the goal of the opt in page; turn visitors into subscribers.

First and foremost; definitions: a squeeze page, landing page, lead capture or opt in page is named as such because its primary goal is to squeeze the name and email.

Now I'll show you how to set up opt in pages that have the ability to capture leads from thousands or maybe even millions of subscribers? Driving traffic to the opt in page is one task but getting them to give their information to grow your opt list is another. The strength of your opt in page is solely based on the proportion of visitors it turns to subscribers.

1. The design of opt in pages is quite simple, however if you want a web designer should do one for you at a low cost.

2. Look at the opt in pages of the most successful marketers in your niche and get ideas from them, put together a swipe file where you save the pages you like, later you can edit them to your liking.

3. Avoid putting any outbound links on your opt in page: links that will lead anywhere other than to submit a name and email address. Every link halves your traffic; give them as little option as possible to leave.

4. As I advise with just about everything; test and find out what works for you, keep testing until you find the opt in page that converts best (depending on the niche ten per cent opt in is quite good so don't be discouraged by low conversions). I use google web optimizer to test pages. Using this you can have more than one page under the same web address, equal amounts of traffic are sent to each page and you see which converts best.

5. Sometimes an ethical bribe such as a free ebook can encourage subscription.

6. Some find adding video to be a good way of improving subscription, test and see if it helps for you.

7. In case I haven't been clear enough I'll repeat; keep testing to find out what page is most effective for you in growing your opt list.
