Top SEO Guru Exposes Golden SEO Secrets!

By Garry Lee

What is a Search Engine Optimisation Expert? In simple terms it's a person who solely concentrates on organically ranking websites in the major search engines. Some of the major search engine of today is Google, Yahoo and Bing. When this is done correctly, huge profits can be gained for the website owner on a long term basis.

The first task to undertake is a bit of market research and keyword selection. Selecting the right keywords is critical and can be the make or break of your online campaign. I prefer to target the long tail keywords rather than the short more competitive keywords. Although they mightn't be as many searches as the shorter keywords, the long tail phrases are a lot more specific and more often than not, are buying phrase.

A free keyword tool that I like to use and is the ever popular Google External Key Word Tool. This is a wonderful resource which can help in so many ways. It will tell you the competition for each search term, global and local searches per month, keywords your competition is targeting, broad, exact, phrase match results and so on.

Next you will need to look at your content and page layout to ensure its SEO friendly. Relevant content with a nice balance of keywords is important and will significantly enhance rankings. It's also very important to keep your home page simple and to the point and not overloaded with content. The visitor should be able to instantly know what your site is able. Too much content has the potential to confuse the visitor which will result in a high bounce rate. A build in blog is something I always include in my sites. They are so convenient when it comes to adding content to your site which should be done on a regular basis. The search engines of today love fresh relevant content and the advantage of this is better rankings, returning visitors and back links from external sites or blogs.

The structure is important also. Keep the site navigation simple so visitors can easily find their way around. This is also important for the search engines. A site map is always good to include, this ensures all your pages are linked and can be easily accessed by search engine spiders.

Having the same content on different pages on your site can be harmful. Ensure all content is unquiet and well written. The description for each page along with meta tags should be carefully considered as well. The Description is the part that is displayed in the search engines and visitors read before entering your site. The discretion should be enticing to encourage the click.

Tracking your website is probably the most important thing you can do. Without tracking results, you have no idea how your site is performing making improvements impossible. The free tools I use are Google web master tool and Google analytics. Coding will need to be added to your site for the analytics tool to work.
