Copywriting 101 for The Beginner and Non-Writer

By Samella Hubertz

There are so many different aspects of both online and offline business that have the potential for overwhelming anyone. So there is comfort in knowing that choosing copywriting as a part of your business does not mean you are being singled out by the universe for special treatment. There are several reasons why those who are making money with their business tend to outsource as much as possible. If that is something that gets your attention, and it should, then you will be delighted to find out what is in store for you. It is never a good idea to run straight ahead before you really know the ins and outs of any technique or approach. Outsourcing can be tremendous, but it can be a nightmare if you have never hired before and do not even know the best places to do that.

Writing effective content or copy for your site can be done even if you do not have much experience with writing. If you want to really make your content and copy effective, then begin your journey of discovery right now.

Just about anything you can devote some time to so you know a little more, or can write a little better, will be time well spent.

As you approach writing any kind of copy, you need to address the reader's emotions without going over the top and using hype. The basic process is people buy on emotions and then seek to rationalize it with logic so they feel they made the right choice. There is a lot more to this, but basically you need to make a kind of emotional connection before anything can happen. We feel this is not difficult to grasp, but using it effectively is another matter entirely. Just get into the shoes of your prospects and give them something real, something that would touch their emotions. Ultimately, the aim of your copy is to get your website visitors to take some kind of an action, and no better way to do that than entice their emotions.

Do not be alarmed when your greatest copy ever to be written, according to you, is stale - no good, does not perform and just outright stinks. This is why it's important that you go ahead and ask for feedback from your friends and other people.

In fact, it is those who skip over their homework who are at most risk and for obvious reasons. Just one great danger for those who believe too quickly is they usually find themselves moving from one method to the next. That experience is very common with web marketers who are relatively new and with little experience. It can be frustrating for everybody, but for different reasons, because there are different situations and people can complain about a strategy that is actually good. That is a habit worth developing because at some point along the line it will serve you very well. The most common behavior people engage in with online marketing is quitting. We will not sugar-coat this for you because that would be a disservice - you will need to work hard to become a good copywriter. Just make a decision that you will do this, and then stick with it no matter what comes down the pike. So remember you have to be patient with this and there is no other way around it.
