Why Transcriptions Of Certain Videos Are Useful

By John O'Hara

Today marketing and advertising that used to depend upon print medium has been replaced by interactive videos that keep the viewers engaged to watching and hearing what is being said. This is a far more engaging medium and everyone without exception would prefer watching videos than reading articles, but then if the marketing video is of longer duration and runs more than 30 minutes, will people still be watching? We doubt it.

It has been seen that when training is imparted via video the comprehension of the trainees as well as viewers in other cases is much better than when the same is done through some other mode of presentation.

Whether the video is short or long one can decide only at the end of watching the entire video if it was worth it. But then generally videos which run more than 3 to 5 minutes tend to bore the viewers and will not be able to hold their attention for long. The viewer's maximum attention span would be around 5 minutes or a little longer.

While watching the videos if the viewers are getting restless, by giving them a print out of the pdf or a ppt version of the video you will be able to engage them more creatively for they will then be able to make their notes and remarks on the paper and find it more meaningful to follow that is being shown in the video.

When you as the marketer have followed up and sent a video file to the viewer and he is unable to down load and view it for any reason to do with the file being too big for downloading or a technical snag in the computer, all your efforts go waste.

But if you have sent across a print out, then it is likely that the viewer will go through the printed material and ensure that he accesses the video at some point and watches it because he knows what is relevant in the video and holds his interest. It saves him the time of having to watch the entire video more than once to get a grasp of things.

Search engines search for files and scan the content in text format to place them on the SRPs. Therefore it makes sense for you to have the SEO in text format. But then you can also have your video listed in the video directory too.

You can be innovative and use both text and video in your file but ensure that the text is seen first. In fact you can list your files with text and videos in other directories too as video-text.
