How To Use Internet Marketing To Improve Your Traditional Business

By Bob Steele

As someone who owns and runs a traditional business, it's understandable that you probably don't think (or know) that Internet Marketing can help you. Your business is of the brick and mortar variety! Why would you waste time diddling around on the web? In truth, you probably already do some of your business online. Did you make a website for your business? Do you email your business partners, clients and buyers? These are ways of doing Internet Marketing. Truthfully, when used well, Internet Marketing can increase the success of any business. If you want to use Internet Marketing to build your business, here are a few things you can do.

Shoot a video about your company. Shooting a commercial is completely different.

Well, it's not a polar opposite but there still are some dissimilarities. The video that you create is not just going to showcase your business; it is going to be about you. You won't be running this video on prime time television. Even the cost should be minimal since you can shoot it with your own camera. You will be uploading it online to YouTube and Vimeo and whatever online video sharing sites you want. Online video has exploded over the last year or so. The goal is for your business to have one so people can watch it and visit your site to discover what you do.

You should post an ad for your business on Craigslist and any other classifieds sites you can find. The services section is where you can post information on your business. You can even feature a product list in the for sale section. No matter what option you go for, make your ads short and sweet. Online classifieds sites are quickly becoming more popular than their offline counterparts in magazines and newspapers. The best part is that you can put up the exact same advertisement on many sites without worrying about the duplicate content penalty.

Make sure that your business has its own Facebook page. You might not like the idea of using Facebook. That's fine for your personal life. You do, however, need to have a Facebook page for your professional life--it is that important. Facebook will offer you a way to reach out to people both in your local area and around the world. It can help put you in touch with so many new customers as more and more of your current customers "like" the page that you have built. A great way to encourage people to "like" your page is to offer a discount on a future commission as a trade for "liking" you. The Internet is not a fad. In fact, the "web based" business world is slowly but surely taking over everything...including the world of traditional business. Over time, more brick and mortar businesses are choosing to use Internet Marketing Methods both to promote and to increase their bottom lines and profit margins. In this article we've shared a few things that are just the start of what you can do when you want this for your own business too.
