Five Search Engine Optimization Tips You'll Love

By Reed Slidell

There are more than just a handful of search engine optimization tips out there. It is a good idea though to start utilizing only the best tips that bring great results. Here are five of the top tips that are still good to use.

#1- Optimize every page.

The first step you should always take in SEO is to optimize your web pages correctly. To do this, you need to locate keywords related to your market that are highly searched for but that have low competition. Integrate one or two related keywords into each page's title tag, description and URL. You should also use the keyword on the title of the content on the page and on the body of the article on the page itself.

#2- Push articles through to directories.

Directories for articles let writers submit articles and include links to their sites on the body or resource box of the submissions. This is therefore obviously one of the best ways to get good backlinks for your site. To get the most out of this strategy, link back to a page on your site using the keyword for which the page is intended for.

There is one warning before you make submissions. It's important to spend some time generating quality articles. Otherwise, directories can reject submissions.

#3- Use Posterous to limit time spend on your network.

You don't have to use just article directories for building links. You can also build your own network of blogs to carry your links. One cool recently discovered technique is to set up various accounts in free blogging services and then use a service called Posterous to tie them all up. You can post just once in Posterous and this will publish the post in your other properties. Take note though that this technique usually takes some time to generate good results. Each blog in your network needs to build its own reputation in the eyes of search engines before links in them become valuable.

#4- Use keywords with lower search volume for off page SEO.

When you submit to article directories, optimize your article for keywords that have lower search volumes and low competition levels than the ones you use for your actual web pages. This is so that the articles you push out to third party sites get found faster by search engines. This will also ensure that the articles you send out don't end up competing with you for your on page keywords.

#5- Start posting comments on other related blogs.

Posting comments on the blogs of other people can definitely give you more backlinks to your site. Good comments can also draw interested people into your site. Obviously, the links in comments aren't of the same quality as links in article directories. Even so, they are still links. When you can, put your page keyword into the name blank so you get the benefit of a good anchor text. Just make sure to check if the blog owner permits this.

These five search engine optimization tips should be enough to get you going. Use them to their full extent so you can start ranking well and generating good traffic to your site.
